When Compressed Natural Gas is filled in a cylinder will the cylinder get heated up?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is filled into a cylinder, it is common for the cylinder to experience a slight increase in temperature. This phenomenon occurs due to the compression process involved in filling the cylinder with CNG. As the gas is compressed and stored within the cylinder, it can generate heat, causing the cylinder's temperature to rise temporarily.

However, it's important to note that the extent of temperature increase largely depends on various factors such as the ambient temperature, the pressure at which the gas is compressed, and the duration of the filling process.

At Jafliyah Gas, we ensure that our cylinders are designed and manufactured to withstand the pressures and temperature changes associated with storing compressed gases like CNG. Our commitment to quality and safety means that you can trust us to provide reliable cylinder gas near you, ensuring peace of mind for your gas storage needs.

Can black iron pipe be use for natural gas water heater?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

only for the gas connections , not for the water connections because if you do hook up black iron pipe for a water connection you could possibly have a little flood years later when you forget you even have a water heater and water will always remind you.

Yes and you can use black pipe for steam / Steam condensate / Oil lines / Fire suppression / Hot water heating (hydronics) air lines / HVAC chiller applications BUT not on fresh water as fresh /potable water contains oxygen and this will corrode the piping and you cannot direct connect any black iron to copper.

Why is black pipe used for natural gas lines?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Natural gas is corrosive and black pipe does not corrode so there is no debris to clog the lines. A more common form of gas pipe is corrogated stainless steel. Especially in residential homes.
